Chondro was the old latin name until they got dumped together with Morelia.

People still say Chondro.

Chondro was found to not be meristically different from Morelia. Therefore Arnold Kluge Threw out Chondropython and Synonimised with Morelia. Hence Morelia is the Official Genus for GTPs.
