what can i use as a hide for a hatchling?

goregrind Sep 19, 2005 01:52 PM

i have two hides in the cage now a half log and a ceramic stump.
she only uses the stump because she can go inside the roots, but i cant get her out of the roots, so im thinking of something else to use that will make her feel comfortable.

here are some of my ideas: a piece of paper to burrow under, small empty vitamin container or half a small one, paper towel roll, upside down deli cup with crumbled paper towels with an acces hole.

which will work the best?

For my smaller snakes, I use a terra cotta pot bottom (saucer) upside down. I break a little hole on the side for an entrance. They seem to like it. You can get different sizes depending on the size of your snake. I think they have them at Wal-Mart or plant nurseries. Derek

I used to take margerine tubs and cut them down so I was left with about 1/2 inch of the bottom. Then I'd cut a little arch for an entrance and my corn loved it.

band aid boxes, paper towel rolls work for me. anything small that they can feel the sides will be good. i use the deli container they came in when i bought them for a while. i don't like to spend money on something they will out grow till they get bigger.
oh, i also have that green terf stuff with paper towel over the top. my baby corn likes to crawl under the towel. if you use paper towels don't freek out when you can't see him since he'll be under it.
