Aggressive Baby Corn

Kiknskreem Sep 19, 2005 03:26 PM

I recently purchased a baby corn snake. I can't pinpoint his age, but he is approx, 8 inches long and not as thick as a pencil. I would describe him still as a hatchling. So far he has been extremely aggressive and defensive. As he is new, I am leaving him alone to adjust to his new home, but he strikes at everything that moves near him. Is this a common trait among younger snakes? I have other corns, none of which I have raised at such a young age, all of whom are quite friendly. I suppose my question is is this behaivor normal, if so how long does it typically last, and if not what are any possible remedies? Sound input appreciated.

its normal for babies to be defensive. its a big world and they are so small. be sure it has very small hiding spots to feel secure. my bigger corn used to taste my fingers when he was little. i was worried he would do that when he got bigger but he doesn't do it anymore.
your baby should calm down as it gets some size and realizes your not a threat. it is best to handle him too so he gets used to it.
