Green/Gray Tree Frog questions...

CBH Sep 19, 2005 05:43 PM

Hey all,

I am thinking of starting a small breeding colony of tree frogs. Tips, advice, and links to sites would be great!

Thanks,

I personally cannot stand green tree frogs, they are far too skittish and picky. The exact opposite are gray treefrogs, my personal favorite and the one species I recommend the most. Other than that, I urge you to collect them your self, ideally as tadpoles. Anybody who collects and sells common treefrogs such as these usually does it in an unsanitary and unsustainable manner.

i have greens and grays together. the grays are far more active and less shy .. either one is easy to keep IMO.. mostly it will come down to which you like better... ive never had problems feeding either of them, i would recommend getting the greens young if you do decide on them.. the ones ive had since tadpoles seem to stay out in the open more than the ones caught as adults.. its easier on them to adjust to captivity also.. i agree with the previous post on buying them from petstores... even if they look like they are living in good conditions at the petstore, you dont know what kind of deplorable condition they were kept in prior to ending up there...
