Is he sick?

fauxhat Sep 19, 2005 06:03 PM

I got my beardie just a few weeks ago. Speaking of, thank you all for the advice before. Sadly, that's not the point of this message.

Truck (isn't that a 'special' name?) has been spending a lot more time in his house lately. He has only left it once in the past.. week, I want to say. I thought they basked much more than that. I also haven't seen him eat in a few days. Normally, he eats right away, but the same crickets have been in there for maybe four days. He also hasn't gone poo for a few days. He normally goes poo about every 2-3 days, but he hasn't done so in about five. I asked mother if we should take him to the vet, but she's just told me she'll ask someone at work about it. Sadly, she hasn't, and I don't know if this is serious or what.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I WOULD FOR SURE ASAP,IF YOU CAN GET A FECAL SAMPLE TO BRING WITH.TAKE THE CRICKETS OUT OF THE CAGE . WHAT SET-UP DO YOU HAVE ALONG WITH TEMPS LIGHTING ETC.ANYONE ELSE WANNA HELP HERE,I HAD MY B/D FOR ONLY 6 MONTHS AND DONT CONSIDER MYSELF A EXPERT.

You need to take the crickets out of the cage that will stress him out if their in their all day also they need to poop at least once a day you should give him a bath in warm water it helps him poop and after that you NEED to take him to the vet with a fickel sample if you can get one ASAP!

I told mother we ought to at least take him in (it isn't particularly expensive to do so), but she said something along the lines of "Oh, I'm sure he's just fine!" I'm afraid there is no fecal sample to bring, for he hasn't gone poo in a few days (and I normally clean up poo when I first see it in the cage).

For the cage, I have a 40 gallon. It's lined with non-stick shelf liner. I have a 100 W "Sun Glo" basking lamp, but even with that, the temperature has been running a couple (like 2-3) degrees low. I don't know how to get it warmer? He has his rock on that end, and a cardboard house on the other end for shade.

I would think something is wrong myself. Maybe he is blocked up. How does he look? I would take him to a vet. My thoughts. Take care.

There could be a few things wrong with your dragon.

1st is what substrate do you keep your BD on? if it is walnut shell then i would take your BD to a vet as soon as possible bc it will impact your dragon and it is also toxic to your bd.

2nd is your bd wont be pooping if it is not eating. You might not wanna give him food everyday if its not eating, wait a day and then feed him and this might get him to eat.

3rd is that your BD might be shedding, or getting ready to shed. this could cause your dragon not to eat which will cause it not to crap. It will also cause your bd to not want to be handled as much if at all.
