nazza Sep 19, 2005 06:29 PM

But finally I choose the female I'll keep for me, what do you think?

All babies but 2 eats, I tried with the 1.1 all: egg, trout (very smelling too) scenting, small live fish, amphibian scenting, brained pinkies, dead, live, small, very small but till now nothing, I have to try only snakes now.

She is absolutely astounding.
Good choice indeed. Take care and keep posting pics as she grows...

Nazza, that is the reddest (and most beautiful)Indigo I have ever seen. Do you know the origin of your animals? I am glad you posted a photo, as I would not have believed it had someone just told me about it. Lucky you! Ciao, Vic

the last 2 feed today for first time: I did as with not feeding baby situla:I hold the snakes right behind the head, then tap on the snout, when they grab the pinkie I continue tu hold the snakes behind the head for a pair of minutes and after, very sloooowly, I release the snake and I crawl out of the room.

That's like the method I call "assisted feeding".
Usually if you gently pry open the mouth and insert the head of the pinky...then gently hold the snake, it will swallow it.

After a few sessons, the snake will usually imprint on the mouse smell as food. I usually do it regualarly (like every 4-5 days) for a few weeks, then let the snake go 2 weeks without food to get very hungry, then try letting them eat on their own.

Continue this pattern until the snake finally eats on it's own.
Once it does...you are off to the races.

By the way...I still almost fall out of my chair every time I see photos of that "little red-headed girl"

WOW !!
