Hello Everyone, Here's the 48 hr Cuture and Sensitivity.

I'll post the final results although I have chosen to NOT do anything at this point. All my snakes ate tonight with the exception of one in deep shed. I have seen no signs of any illness thus far and I have taken the time to physically check all of them each day. I'm left to figure this incident was one of those strange happenings that just out of nowhere and means nothing in particular. A pretty big mistake was made when I took a lung culture....it was her liver and I didn't know this until yesterday. I have alot of experience with cats/dogs, but I must admit this is the first experience with a BRB. Next time I'll do better.

I am not certain the results are interpretable since they were done in a human lab and the fact that organisms reproduce and become pathogenic at "optimal temperatures" which were targeted for humans rather than reptiles. I argued this strongly enough to claim testing should not be charged for since incubation temps were too high.

R means resistant to, S means sensitive to, and I is intermediate.

Tracheal culture: Pseudomonas SPP
Lung (actually liver coag neg staph)....culture aborted before sensitivity

S:
Ceftazidine
Gentomicin
Cefepime
Tobramycin
Pipercillan
Amikacin
Primaxin
Ticaracillin

R:
Cefrriaxone
CHPC

I:
Aztreonman
Baytril

I have no idea what would be natural pathogens post-mortem. If anyone knows, please contact me. I only hop these results can help someone or me in the future.

of the JCM is not dead! I seem to confuse some by my wording.

Linda,
...I really like that 2004 BRB. LOL. I do not know but suspect that Pseudomonas are not among the normal respiratory flora. But, if I was you I would not be too concerned so long as the rest of the collection remains healthy. I am thinking that you are doing a lot of research on what are the normal flora for snakes, particularly boids. If along the way you find the normal ranges of lab values for complete blood counts and metabolic profiles in snakes I would be very interested to know.
