shipping baby beardies

frogggy Jul 19, 2003 09:24 AM

I'm back again. I tried Airborne but they too will only ship turtles and frog, no lizards. I would like to also insure the lizards. Is there anyone who ships them except UPS with a DAILY account that will also insure them?
Thanks,
Gloria

bearded dragons with them and have no problem...... who told you they would not ship them?

I sent out some this week and they are clearly marked live reptiles, in fact I packed and closed them up right in front of the clerks and managers at the counter.

Hi! You have an account set up with them? Are they insured? I went to an Office Max outlet who handles Airbourne shipping. She called Airbourne and the person from Airborne told her they do not ship out reptiles. They can ship frogs, turtles and fish though, she told her. Now the girl at the desk was ready to ship them out, if I hadn't asked about insurance on them.
By the way did you heat pack your beardies?
Thank you so much,
Gloria

The past two week I have got 9 bearded dragons in and two out through ariborn. I can not understand them telling you they do not ship bearded dragons! I ship them overnight 10:30 am guarateed delivery... like I said, they stood right their looking at the dragons as I sealed them up!

Here's a copy of one that I sent out Wednesday, as you can see it is clear marked too:

they sleep the whole way and heat packs coming out of Florida would have cooked them, I line the inside with Styroform sheets for insulation.

Were you able to insure them?
Thank you,
Gloria

As far as I'm aware, the only shipping company that guarantees live delivery is Delta. And they cost about 85 bucks to send out a beardy sized box, as opposed to 25 with Airborne.

USPS will also ship beardies, however they're often late. I have a friend here who sent out about 15 separate packages (all animals) in about a week timespan, with USPS a couple of months ago, and all but 1 turned up late. There were 3 DOAs due to the late arrivals (too hot stuck in the vans all day) - And whilst USPS refunded his delivery fees on the late arrivals, he had to replace the animals out of his own pocket.

He's not lost a single animal in shipping with Airborne.
