moving chondros?

djzion Sep 20, 2005 01:47 AM

ok so i just recently moved... well not that recent i moved my chondro into the new apt on august 22nd. i keep a callendar of all his sheds and when he eats and i believe hes coming up on a shed. because hes getting his green so fast its not hard to tell when hes gettin ready to shed because he looks dull and washed out. but it seems as though its been 3 weeks with out him eating or finally shedding... could it be the stress of the move throwing off his rythm? hes still in the same cage setup the same way but idk whats up... heres a schedule maybe itll help ya:

8/4 shed
8/4 ate
8/9 ate
8/14 ate
8/22 moved
8/23 ate
8/31 ate
9/5 ate

then around 9/8-9/10 is when i first noticed him looking dull. but he hasnt actually peeled or ate yet since. ive tried upping the humidity and temp for a few days here and there but still nothing. my only idea is that maybe the move kinda threw ff his "groove" and this shed may take a little longer than usual. normally its about a week from when i frist notice the dullness and him actually peeling(which he does in a night). when i first brought him home the very first shed since i had him took almost 3 weeks wich is why im thinking its just stress.... just looking for a pat on the back and some reassurance please.

A move can make a snake go off food for a period if it did stress them. How old is your snake? I'm assuming it's a neonate as you're feeding every 5 days. Babies can get more stressed than larger snakes, just because at their size....everything is scary. If your snake is not a neonate, the only thing I would suggest is that you don't feed so often. I would only offer food every week until it eats again, no more often than that.

yeah he's a youngin'. ive had him since maybe...march and i belive he was only 3-5 months when i got him so hes either just under or just over a year approx.

he's peeling right now as i type this. im positive the move stressed him out enough to throw off his schedule!

Cool! These are the only snakes I know that you can usually catch shedding. My corns always manage when I'm gone during the day, or really late at night. My Green tree tends to do it right as it gets dark. It's cool!
