Morphs?

casket Sep 20, 2005 02:54 AM

hey, i have a female ball and a blackback male...although the blackback is not genetic so i dont really even know why i bother to put blackback. are there any morphs that pass on with more strength in a male of female? i want to keep my normal female the way she is...so are there any morphs in which males carry the stronger genes? ive been looking at pastels as my first ball morph only because they seem to be the most affordable hahaha. any input is appreciated. thanks.

Female Pastels are very affordable and worth buying in this buyers market. Make as many as you can and keep most for yourself that you can afford. Because of their affordability, most crosses have been made with Pastels. Also, most new crosses to come are thought to be nicer with the Pastel yellows.

If I understand your question correctly - no - genes are genes - doesn't matter if they come from the male or female. There are morph genes that are more dominant than normal or other morph genes but makes no difference which parent contributes them.

You can check out this link for some more genetics information:

Tosha, this is off topic, but I gotta ask. How did a snake git a name like fluffy?. Sorry, couldn't control myself

LOL - Harry and Fluffy were my son Eric's birthday presents. He was going through a Harry Potter phase at the time (he was three). Anyway - he named the first one Harry - then stuck for a girls name (he couldnt say Hermoine at the time) he chose Fluffy - the three headed dog in the first HP movie.

Of course now we have to explain that to everyone cause as you know snakes are niether Hairy nor Fluffy.

"i want to keep my normal female the way she is..."

I'm not sure if I understand the question. Your normal female will always remain a normal female. She will not change into a morph. Only the babies can be morphs. And that's only if you breed her with a dominant/codominant male -- Pastel, Spider, etc.

(I just read your post again. I still don't understand the question.)

oops maybe I misunderstood the question - you may be right - I think he wants to know if his snake will morph into something else. As in the verb (to change) not the noun (a varied species).

i know this...i just meant i want to keep her and use her as the breeder, not spend MORE money on another morph...just keep the hets and get another visible morph later on.
