Snake weight measurements?

goini04 Sep 20, 2005 02:06 PM

Hello everyone,

I am just wondering what type of scale is best to use to weight snakes and other reptiles? I am trying to get all equipment and stuff necessary for next years herping trips.

Thanks for any info!

For weighing herps in the field, I suggest you get a 100g pen scale (pesola make the best, but they are overpriced) and possible a 10lb fishing scale. They would easily fit into a pocket/backpack. Unfortunately, you can't get a pen scale that goes much higher than 100g without spending a ridiculous amount of money and the next cheapest thing for weighing larger items is a fishing scale.

For weighing my animals and feed items at home, I have a Tanita digital scale.
