impaction?

PacMan333 Sep 20, 2005 05:40 PM

Hi, I have had my albino pacman frog since July and it has grown probally to its full size at 4 inches. He is a male (can't think of name) and is still doing good. The first month I had him he pooped once at least ever 2 days and then would look skinny so I'd feed him. About 2 weeks ago I fed him a nightcrawler that he could handle and he looked really fat that night. His sides looked bulgy, so I decided to give him a healthy fasting diet. Now he still looks bulgy and still hasn't pooped. When he dives at the bed-a-beast he gets just a little in his mouth, could he be impacted and can't poop? I don't know if I should feed him because he looks obese. I keep the temp at 80 in the day and 79 at night, so there is not real threat to the temps. He goes in his water dish sometimes, and I keep it moist so lemme know if you can tell what's wrong.

it is hard to tell if a pacman is overweight because they will hold air and water in their sides, appearing fat. ive never heard of bed-a-beast causing impactions, and i dont think it could given its small size of the particles themselves. sometimes the pressure from a newly eaten meal will trigger them to poop. ive had mine go 2 weeks with no poop, fed her, she pooped within 2 days. let me know how it goes.

Bed-a-beast will not cause impaction. You said you put him on a "diet". If hes not eating, hes not gonna poop. I wouldnt worry about it. Can I post a picture of him on my website?

Okay, well that makes me feel better, and sure I guess you could post his picture on your website you can find a ton in the photo gallery under Uma when I thought he was a she.

Are you sure that is a he? From those pictures, I would say Im 90% that is a she. Look at the skin under the chin...it is white, and its very big for a males. Males have loose, dark "beards", and stay smaller. Have you heard it croak (sounds like a cow), or just chip?
