WVLT (Knoxville, Tennessee) 13 September 05 Questions remain after 'Ace' the alligator is put down
Oak Grove, Ky. An alligator known as "Ace" survived in the Oak Grove, Kentucky and Clarksville, Tennessee area for nearly three weeks before being euthanized sometime during the weekend.
Oak Grove Police Chief Milton Perry says he thought the plan was to give the four-and-a-half foot reptile to a zoo when he handed it over to the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. He said the Kentucky agency destroyed the animal.
Ace escaped August 24th from the back of a pickup truck in Oak Grove and had been on the lam until he was spotted last Thursday in Clarksville. His snout was taped shut at a Clarksville pet store and remained that way until he was put down three weeks later.
