Melamine enclosures

ZEKyle Sep 20, 2005 07:39 PM

I really wanted to get a new enclosure for my tegu soon because it is outgrowing its 60 gallon reptile tank and I was wondering about melamine enclosures. I talked to a couple of people and they say dont buy a melamine one. Instead to go with a vision cage b/c of the humidity they need and that melamine will get messed up. I really dont like vision cages that much so possibly I will get a custom glass reptile cage 6' x 2' x 2. I would like to know your oppinion if you use a melamine enclosure. I have heard you can put some type of lining in to keep the wood from warping. Any suggestions are welcome. I have found a great deal on a melamine enclosure and I really want to get it, I just dont want to be mad I got it later.

you can replace a melamine enclosure 3 times for the price of one vision. i say o for it. myself i use a 2x4 frame and hardboard. its super cheap and thin. its like pegboard without the holes. 10 bucks a sheet, you cant beat it. then just cover the walls with something. ceramic tile, peel and stick vinyl tile, and stick on stone (i am trying that next).
