Substrate for Dumpy???

JustinM. Sep 20, 2005 08:08 PM

I'm going to get a Dumpy soon and I was wondering what everyone uses as their substrate???

I'm thinking bark mulch will be the best candidate? It comes in big pierces(harder to swallow), retains humidity, easy to clean.

I was thinking about triple-milled Cypress, but thinking of impaction as a concern?

What does everyone find works best? Thank you for your time!

i would use bed-a-beast. too small to cause impaction and softer on their sensitive skin. mulch is pretty rough and not all the pieces are that big. if he did eat a piece it would be very easy to get caught inside and cause big problems. bed-a-beast is also very good at holding the humidity.
