THERES NO BEAUTY LIKE THE BEAUTY OF A TRUE REDTAIL
I probably should not say a word, but I am intitled to my opinion as anyone else and I hope you will not take it offessively, but chances are you probably will. When I look at that Boa Constrictor Amarali, I see two things. One: I see an animal that was produced by a man that has a formula that not only works, but obviously works well and the litters that I have seen you produce over the last few years, have proved that. There is no question, by your numbers you take good care of your animals and have good stock and the dividends have paid off for you and believe it or not, I respect your accomplishments greatly " even though I am sure you could care less what I think, assumption on my part. " Two: I see an animal that comes from a species and or Locality, that will probably never be brought in from the wild to help correct the over selective breeding that has occured with these bloodlines. The animal is a perfect example of my personnal belief and also the belief of many others who choose not to be as outspoken about it as myself and that belief is simple; " When the pattern gets reduced to the point of loosing it completely, why not breed some thicker marked animals into the line, so that years from now, we will still know what an Amarali and other Locals that are having the same thing done, still look like? " This is not a demand on my part, I do not have the right to demand anything, it is simply a question. Surinames and Guyanas are not as at risk of this " yet " because enough of them are still imported. Amarali and some others, are not as lucky. Sure, everyone has their own tastes and Yes, certain patterns and designs go for more money on the market. Why, should we not just breed morphs then? Locality breeders in the old days, never fell into all of that mess or at least very seldom. The number one thing that we bred for back then " as far as B.C.C. " was bigger and brighter tails. The only thing that I have tried to bring to peoples attention, that are true lovers of Local animals, is simple; " When no more imports come in and all the stock being bought and sold in the U.S. comes from breeders and everyone is selectively breeding all of the wild traits out of the Boas, what is going to be the fun in having a bunch of plain Boas and not telling one from the other? " Am I making perdictions that are probably another generation away? Hmmm, we will see and I know in my heart, that it will all come full circle in the end, as all things do and people will be looking for the breeder that kept or at least tried to keep things authentic. If you think at this point Barry, I am singling you out, you could not be MORE wrong. Try to find the jewels in what I am saying and not the negative, but how ever you take it, is up to you? I just found this photo, as one more example to talk about something that I am passionate about, not a witch hunt on you. On September 16 1999, I produced those Peruvians that you have a pair of and I am sure you and or Craig will get a high price for them and deservingly so. For me, I wish I would have never produced them, I have only contributed to the problem and for that, I also stand guilty.........Johnson Herp
Just as you feel so passionate about "Locality", others are equally as passionate about "morphs". I'm not Barry, but if I were, I would be offended by what you wrote. Yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and you certainly have yours, but believe me when I tell you that I myself, am very tired of hearing about them! How can you for one minute, possibly believe that Barry or anyone else for that matter, will morph something to the extent that you are speaking of? Are there that many individuals out there that are doing this to the point that it will someday over run all the various localities? I seriously doubt it!
I personally think you need to "chill" out about your "locality" points of views and stop driving them down our throats every chance you get!
PS. Barry - that's the most awesome Amarali I've seen!

Exactly, " my opinion " just like you have chosen to take my opinion as negative and demeening, " wich is was not. " Now, if you go back and read my post very slowly, you will see that it was NOT an attack on Barry or any individual, but an opinion on how things can turn out, if we as a whole in this Hobby continue to breed out the wild characteristics; "meaning markings and patterns. " You do not have to agree and nowhere have I ever said; " That everyone should agree. " Only that; " One day I will be proved right or one day I will be proved wrong. " Time will tell all. Now, for you to say; " I should stop stating my opinion and beliefs, is you trying to take away my freedom of speech and expression and that is much less tolerable, than my debates of disagreements. " If you do not like the song, Frank just turn the radio off, but don't kill the DJ. Feel free to disagree, but do not try to make my opinion into something that it was not and do not take away my rights to express and I will give you the same respect.......Johnson Herp
I agree with both points of view. But you have to realize that especially now, they are just as many people that are into morphs as well as localities. My personal preference, is a good looking locality snake. Although I must agree some of those morphs are beautiful.
