Bufo terrestris question

ellasmommie May 18, 2003 12:52 AM

We brought in two Southern Toads Thursday evening (rescued from almost getting squished in the road) and they have been in Amplexus (sp?) ever since. I have been told that they can remain like this for up to 4 days. I have provided them with a large area of water for when she is ready but my question is, how long should I wait to release them if she doesn't drop any eggs? Is it possible that she wont? And if not, can she get sick if she doesn't? I certainly don't want any harm to come of either of them. (After seeing Matrix Reloaded this evening we have named them Neo and Trinity because of the "love" scene in the movie LOL)

Thanks in advance folks!

Sounds like you got your hands full, your apartment must be hopping. I have no advice for you on your toads, but have followed your leopard frogs since your first post. Congratulation on raising them from tads, they're all so cute. I was also sad when you lost freckles.

A couple of months ago we got two FBTs and they're doing great. Now my son wants a turtle so we're doing intense research on red eared sliders. I told him if he can keep the FBTs alive and healthy for a year, and saved up his allowance, he could have a turtle. But, he's also very interested in spring peepers and I think he may have caught one this morning. As soon as I can figure out how to get the picture out of my new camera I'll post one.
