Feeding Crested Geckos Powdered Diets

Mothi Sep 21, 2005 06:35 AM

I had cresteds a few years ago but sold them and decided to get them again, so I bought one on sunday. In the past I have fed them crickets, other insects, and baby foods. I see now though that there are powdered diets made for them. If I can get away from dealing with crickets I will be very happy, but want to make sure my little one gets a good diet. (Also am reading that baby food is more like candy so not as good for them as it seemed in the past.) So my question is, at 3-6 months of age, what should my crested be eating as a staple complete diet? Since they like more protein as a baby, should I get the gargoyle powdered stuff by T-Rex? or stick with the stuff made specifically for crested geckos? (Btw, the store I bought him from did provide the crested powdered diet by T-Rex, but it is uncertain whether they were eating it or not.) What about the Clark's Frugivorous Gecko Diet? (And where do you buy it?)

Juli, This is Clark Tucker of clarksgeckos.com. Sorry for the late response but my gecko diet along with regular feedings of dusted insects is a great idea. It is much more palatable that the T-Rex diets but, is only designed to be half of the total intake of your gecko the remainder being feeder insects. It is available at www.geckomadness.com (Erik Weber) and at Pangea Reptile Company (Matt Parks) in many different amounts. Thanks for your interest in my new diet for fruit eating geckos and good luck with that very attractive crested you have there.
