Old Leopard Gecko

Blissguy123 Jul 19, 2003 11:45 AM

My 4 year old (i know, thats not THAT old!) leopard gecko has a partially yeallow tail. He is a normall phase gecko but as he has gotten older, his tail has gotten more and more yeallow collering on it. I was wondering, and i hope someone could answer, are normall pahse leoard gecko's tails supposed to turn yellow as they mature? Thanks for any responses.

Well, not really, but sometimes they do change their color slighly due to shed.

His tail is about 3 1/2 inches long and about 1 3/4 inches is yellow with the black pattern. IT is like the white on his tail is turning to yellow as he gets older.

Yes, it is quite common. I have many leos who continue to get more orange/yellow in their tails as they age.

I have an 8-month-old SHT whose tail is starting to turn yellow too. She has about a 40% carrot-tail, and I just noticed today that a patch of the bright orange has turned bright yellow. Pretty soon everyone will be breeding lemon tails
