Superworm ?

stcloudbadger Sep 21, 2005 07:19 PM

I recently purchased 250 superworms to try as an alternative to Silkies and crickets and was wondering how many you can feed at a time. Our six month old just goes crazy for them. I've read too many can cause impaction. Any advice would be appreciated!

Superworms are used as a treat not a staple in their diet. they are high in fat. Your dragon needs the protien of the crickets and silkies to grow. Also the shell of a super worm is really hard to digest, espesially if you are feeding a lot of them. I would use them as a treat only.

If you want a healthy alternative try getting your dragon to eat rep cal pellets

We've tried the pellets too but he's not real crazy for them. He seems to prefer one color over another if that makes sense. How long did it take you to get your dragon to convert to pellets? Do you still use crickets or other protein too? Thanks.

Mine will absolutely refuse the pellets, cause they don't move. And when she gets superworms or anything else, she's picky about color as well. Everything has to be in the right place and the right color for her to eat it. Same with veggies. Crickets are very good for them, but mine likes variety, so definitely try different things to spice things up a bit.
