This male het pied just hatched. He really wanted to be a pied and put forth a great effort.

Looks to me like we have a case of paradox pied lol.

Normal markings exhibiting none of the "normal" pied markings, and a nice clean white just like the regular pieds. Something fishy indeed, and I definitely wouldn't call this animal a ringer.

IMHO thats a pied and Id keep it! Not many normal pattern pieds out there.

It's not a piebald it's just a het. You can tell by the pattern and the fact that it has a normal appearing belly except where the white is.

Rebellious pythons are a real pain. I don't normally do this, but go ahead and send him to me and I'll setup a plan to rehabilitate him.

Sorry Eric but you are definitely wrong on this one, your animal is indeed part homozygous pied whether you like it or not.

That is not a ringer on your animal, that is pure unadulterated white with the pied colors immediately preceding and ending with pied color/pattern.

Like I said, most likely reason for this is you have yourself a paradox pied, an animal exhibiting normal and pied characteristics in one.

As for it being a ringer, well you show me a ringer that looks like that and I'll mail you a cookie. Normally a ringer has faded color (but not pure white) exhibited from the belly and around the spine in a good example. Yours has pure white, looking roughly to be 1.5inches wide or so with pied color/pattern before and after it. Like I said, not a ringer!

I havn't used the word ringer once in this thread. This animal is not a homozygous piebald though, it is just a het that happens to show some pied traits. Het pieds have been known to have small amounts of white(many refer to them as ringers) this one is just more extreme.

Yep! That's a great Ringer (Banded Piebald). And I'm assuming it hasn't proved genetic since the trial in 1999 (?).

It was a piebald x 50% het pied. There were 9 eggs and no pieds. I proved 2 out of 5 50% het pieds this year and the 2 that proved out had the markers while the other 3 didn't. I'll take some better pics tomorrow.
