help with beardie who stopped eating...

joijoi29 Sep 21, 2005 08:01 PM

My usually very healthy beardie, who always has a good appetite suddenly doesn't want to eat. She loves her supers but this morning she ate one then just watched the rest crawl around. she just turned a year old, is kept in a 4'x2'x2' cage with a 3ft UVB, basking is 100-105, cool side is 85. she is kept on non-adhesive shelfliner. could this be brumation? is she too young? Any advice would be great. hope i'm not being a worry wart but this is out of character for her.

As long as she is healthy it is completly normal. She could be going into burmation. I've had very young dragons do it as well. but at that age its normal. I wouldnt worry. Cut her lights down a few hours a day. If you notice her looking lathargic then somehting is wrong and take her and/or a fecal to a vet. Hope this helps.

peace,
nate

Hi
beardies round 1 year old go round the time of this year in brumation.
not all dragons do it the first year .
if they r younger then 1 year old then is brumation not recomended.
so youre dragon wil be fine.
dont be afraid if he go sleep for 3 months.
weight him once a while so you see he not lose much weight .
