Those thayeri look great. Did you do the breeding on the thayeri/californiae cross? I'm curious as to how difficult that would be. Thanks...
Terry
Thanks, and yes, the cross occurred here. To be truthful, and painful at the same time. It was an accident. I was planning on the kingsnake comsuming the thayeri. In a moment of anger, after the female thayeri had killed her second male. I tossed her in with a male Calking(my largest) and they bred for two days, as if they were both the same type of snake. There was no gadgetry or trickery or scenting or anything, he simply bred her as if she would a getulus. As you may know, montane kings have a totally different breeding pattern then getulus. So in this, I was amazed. Thanks, FR
That's amazing! I didn't know thayeri had a tendency to eat other snakes, or maybe there was some other reason the female killed the two males. Also very interesting the male Cal king bred her. If you get any more pics I'd be interested in looking at them, especially a head profile, or others. It'd be informative if you bred two siblings when they grow up to see if it works too. Thanks....TC.
Nice plump babies, Frank, and that calthayer is great looking!
