There are a variety of places to get mice online, but I have found you get what you pay for.
The Mouse Factory, RodentPro and Big Cheese Rodents have always sent me professionally packaged rodents in great condition. They are about the same price depending on what you are buying. If you are buying in quantity (1000s) you can save some real money. Make sure you check out what specials they are running at the time.
You want to make sure the place you buy them from VACCUUM seals then rather than just throwing them in a ziploc. I have had another large business sell me mice that were stuffed in a ziploc and significantly freezer burned when I received them.

my addiction:
2 normal ball pythons (lazlo and izzy)
1 amelenistic corn snake (mazy)

hey goregrind
I have heard that it is not good...but i dont think a couple of small patches of freezerburn are that bad. I would toss any mice that were severly freezerburnt. I am sure that most of the nutrients would be gone at that point. Thats my opinion....im not sure if it is correct.

As far as I understand, freezer burn occurs when fluids (mostly water) in the tissues are drawn out of the mouse and freeze as ice crystals on the outside of the animal. This happens when you freeze things without adequate protection from the dehydrating influence of the freezer. Theoretically, a rodent can be freezer burned until it dries out completely!
One way to prevent this is to vaccumm seal your rodents in small groups. Even putting them in ziplocs and squeezing out as much air as possible will help. Double bagging helps a little as well. Generally I don't get freezer burn unless I forget to close up the ziploc and squeeze out the air. After a few months it is inevitable. So you should try to buy mice in small enough lots that you can get through them within 3-6 months.
