My male just shed his 4th time this year.He is pushing 5 plus. That isnt the measurement of me holding him and stretching him out another foot either.
The first pic is last years. The second is from a few months ago.

My opinion would be 5 years before they show there true color.I have a 4 year old female who looks better with every shed.My year old female still has alot of grey but she has changed alot in the last 4 months. Now the snake pictured is around 6 years old.Im not real sure of his exact birthdate.I have for years wheeled and dealed with my collection.I like to learn what I can then trade for something different. My bairds will grow old with me.I would be hard pressed to trade them for black headed pythons.lol.Great looking,affordable,handable,active,alert,etc...Paul

I have kept and bred many ratsnakes over the years and bairds are by far my favorite.

Hey Don,

your the one i got my bairds from!! hows it goin? how is the king? the bairds are doing great! fact is i am fascinated by ratsnakes now! their temperament and alertness is by far better then the kingsnakes i have dealt with, not sayings kings are bad, because their not, i am just coming to the conclusion that i prefer rat snakes. that said i will never get rid of my albino speckle king, she is a beauty. i will post a pic of her when i get one! anyways bairds are great! hey by the way, Don do you breed anyother rat snakes besides bairds?

My adult male is at 5 foot even and my female tapes out to at least 5 1/2 feet without getting her completely stretched. LOL. They are so solid and muscular.

The Female:

The Male:

And together for a shot:

These guys are awesome. I especially love the female's light metallic coloration with the deep orange underlying and mostly lack of black longitudinal striping. She's a gorgeous snake. I hold these guys second only to my corns which are my first love. :D
