Few questions...

amazinglyricist Sep 22, 2005 01:58 PM

A friend of mines box turtle laid eggs about 2 1/2 months ago, so I put them in my incubator. Now one of them is hatching, I know how to care for them, but there isn't much info on setups for babies or how long to leave them in the incubator, should I leave it there until it comes all the way out of the egg itself or until it absorbs the egg yolk or what?

Thanks for any advice
Josh

First I'll say I have never kept box turtle hatchlings before(I have never seen a baby boxie either), but I can point you in the right direction. One good book that discusses hatchling boxie care is The Box Turtle Manual from the AVS series. As for the hatchlings themselves, let them leave the eggs on their own, pulling them out can kill them. And remember to supply UV light. Good luck.
