Above snake was booping on the second and third day of captivity and i noticed it had something that kept it together in a string shape so i rinced it with soap and water to see if it might be a snake skin. Sure enough,it was a keeled skin maybe a garter or ribbon which are common where i found this snake.

.....it takes a dedicated observer to wait w/ w-c & examine their scat...we should all strive 2 make a habit of it,
1 of the few valuable data pts... hobbyists can contribute to the ntrl history of these spps...as long as the remains are adequately foto-vouchered like yours.
This can be a most unpleasant endeavor however...

Adult Easterns on our n. MI property eat mostly baby rodents. One caughed up a pair of baby meadow voles last summer. They also eat snakes, especially green grass snakes. Baby milks eat baby snakes almost exclusively..greens, red-bellies, and browns

I live in Carmel. I've had some success in Patterson. Baby eastern's should be turning up now. Where are you from ?

Hi Doug - I know a spot near a ballfield in Patterson where I've found several milks and plenty of Garter's - toads, red elf, an occasional green snake. Plenty of other wildlife, voles mice, weasel, skunk coyotes, turkey surrounded by the great swamp
