Our new female

jjjt4beck Sep 22, 2005 10:42 PM

We just got our female a few days ago. A few questions...
- she is a tiny thing and will be one year in October. What type of diet should I be feeding her to prepare her for breeding? I will definitely wait until she is over 35 grams before putting her in with our male, I am just wondering how to best give her some weight. Currently she is eating a few small crickets every other day and I have tried giving her some babyfood, but she is not interested. She only arrived a few days ago so I'm giving her some time. I do dust her crickets with Sticky Tongue Farms miner-all.
- At 11 months of age, what weight would you expect a female crested to be? She seems very small, but healthy none the less. Maybe our male is just very big?
I attached a picture of her. I'm very new to having cresteds and I am unfamiliar with the various morphs. I was told however that she was a harlequin? Just curious what some of you thought. Thanks, Jamie

Our Male - 2 years old

she does seem a little small for a 11 month old. I have two crested geckos females that are only a few months older than her now but both were larger at 11 months.

definitely a nice female harlequin.
all animals grow at different rates, she does look healthy, and judging from her size i would guess she's about 22 grams, which isn't too bad for an 11 month old gecko. definitely keep her away from the male until you know she's over 30 grams, and preferably over 35.
