A series of unfortunate events

Herpguy24 Sep 23, 2005 06:26 AM

First when I got home the nightlite bulb was in the tank water, so I chunked it. Then I went to petsmart and got another, and when I got back, my daytime one was blown. Then I asked my mom to go get me another because we don't have the car on weekends( or anytime really) and I gave her the box and she said she got the wright kind but she didn't and I love her anyway. 2 days later when I was screwing in the nightlite it broke, don't know how but it just broke in my hands, so I said " ah screw it". Could this have anything to do with the water evaperating on to the light bulbs and above so there like in a rainforest or something? Sounds to me like a risk hazard but the same thing happened when I put the aquarium light bulb in so it must happen alot. Thanks, bye.

If you want my opinion you are wasting your money. Those bulbs are very expensive and I find that they burn out very fast. I got a heat lamp at menards for $2 and has lasted for at least a year and still going. If you have UVB, then all you need is heat. You dont need to be spending that much for heat. go to menards. you can also get neodynium (sp?) bulbs there for really cheap if you want to go that route.

I do not know about where you are, but at the Walmart here, you can get 60 Watt (day or night) Neodymium lightbulbs. They are not in the pet department, but in the lightbulb section. They are called Reptile Rays Daytime (or nighttime) Heat Light and have a drawing of an Iguana on the front. A lot cheaper than the stuff at the pet store.
