Lost My Arapaho C. bicinctores male * Shocked :0(

PHEve Sep 23, 2005 08:10 AM

I can't believe it, I had just posted him last week. He took awhile to acclimate after he was caught in early April. But had done well for the last couple months.

He was tame, I hand fed him extra all the time so he would stay nice, and he seemed real happy. Weds I noticed him holding his back leg funny as if it was broken or hurt.
I soaked him figuring maybe he jumped wrong or got it caught some how. I did that 3 times on weds. and 2 times on Thurs.

Went in to check after dinner last night (fri) and he was in his cave dead. BUMMED me out. So fast, so abrupt, so weird.

SO VERY SAD ! Poor pretty Zia has lost 2 mates in the past 2 years.

Sometimes it is quite difficult with wc's, some do fine, others struggle with your help, and others just do not make it.

I think these guys are so Handsome I will try again, try and find a NICE healthy guy for Zia. I have talked with a friend who says he has just the guy, so we will see.

Such a shame as Arapaho, tried so hard, and was doing so well, almost seemed like a cb and then this..... STINKS.....

Oh, Eve, I'm sorry. I just knew you were going to have beautiful babies from him.

A couple of my wc bicinctores aren't adjusting very well to captivity, either. I wonder if maybe they're just more fragile than collaris.

He was such a handsome lizard for her too.

My husband and I are suckers for just how beautiful the male C. bicinctores get here in Nevada.

I remember Cory little leg worried me, and your advice was just right.

Take care,

Nicole

It's so hard to lose one and I know you put everything you have into caring for your animals. Big hug to you.
I was at my friend's house a couple weeks ago and saw the baby girl he got from you. She is doing great, very active, eating and pooping like a horse! Her name is Princess Fiona. I keep pestering him to get on the forum and post pictures. Thanks so much, everyone loves her.

If you don't find a male, let me know and I'll catch you one.

PHEve Sep 24, 2005 11:40 AM

Thats very sweet Will, I absolutely loved my Yuma that you had given me, I also have to admit from losing 2 of these males in the last couple seasons I'm a bit gun- shy , if you know what I mean.

I think they are so incredibly handsome, and would love to see pretty Zia have a healthy male with her, when she turns her lovely orange this coming spring.

But it worries me too, seems as though they both (males ) looked awesome for a while , would never have thought they would have problems, but they did

I will let you know, Thanks

I know how that SUCKS... I really do!

But I know you are one of the best owners with the best care, and if he had a good chance, it was with you.

You have been there , I know, it is a shame, but I guess we have to think of all the ones we do well with, and they live LONG safe lives , being waited on hand and foot.

Never having to worry about big birds or whatever swooping down and eating them.

Whenever there is a death I think it makes us more aware of how much we still need to learn......
