Trying to get a MBK back to eating F/T...

gzyv15a Sep 23, 2005 08:41 AM

I have a three year old MBK that used to eat like crazy. When I first bought her, she was eating live mice. I was easily able to convert her to eating f/t. She contined to eat f/t for about a year until recently. Getting worried about her not eating, I gave her a live mouse which she accepted. The problem is now she only accepts live mice. Any suggestions that i can get her back to eating f/t?

For one thing, the snake is now an adult, which means it is more likely to take cues fronm the time of year (temp changes, light cycle, etc). It may be that she is more likely to feed on live mice at this time of year. It is also likely that she may go off feed by November and not feed until February. Or not.

To answer your question, let the snake get hungry. Don't offer live for 2 weeks and see if she'll take thawed.
