Black blood eggs!!!

maynard Sep 23, 2005 09:37 AM

I awoke yesterday to my female wrapped around 8 eggs. Much to my suprise I never assumed she was gravid. I purchased my 1.1 pair from Ben Segeil appox six months ago. They were fresh WC. I was told by several people that I would be lucky if the female would breed in the next 3-5 years. So I just caged them together thinking nothing would happen. Then Boom... 8 eggs.
I need all of the advice I can get. I have never bred bloods before. I have done Burms. Should I care for the eggs like Burm eggs? OR should I go A different route. I have them in a mix of vermiculite and perlite with temps at 89. Sorry for rambling...

Hey,
What a lucky stiff, LOL! Yes, you can incubate the egg's like you would burms. The temps are good at 89* fahreheit too. At that temperature, they can be expected to hatch at around 56-64 days. All the best to you and be sure to check on the orientation. The vermiculite/Perlite mix is good also. All the best with the clutch.
