there's no such thing as a box tortoise, wherever you saw that it's probly a slip up or the person who wrote it doesn't know what they're talking about..

Folks in Europe and the UK call box turtles "box tortoise"... its just a vocabulary thing.

Here is their reasoning:

Salt water: Sea Turtles
Fresh Water turtles: Terrapin
Lives on land: Tortoise

Box turtles are sort of an inbetweener, but they spend most of their time on land, hence they are a 'tortoise', despite the fact they resemble a water turtle more than what we consider a 'tortoise'
