My BIG Black Pine...pic

Weekendherper Sep 23, 2005 04:17 PM

This guy has no traces of a pattern, although he has some white flecks on his chin. What a great snake. I'd love to get a picture of me holding him, to get a better idea of his size, but my wife will have nothing to do with it!

You must have a brave friend SOMEWHERE that will take your picture! LOL Truely a beautiful snake! I wish I had one like that!

I ask what breeder you got it from?

Thanks,

Bob.

This guy was actually 1/2 of a breeding pair that a local reptile store had recently aquired. I was told that the pairs previous owner was a shop called "Leather Egg". The female was actually even darker than the male, but was much smaller.

Thanks! Very impressive snake. Thanks for sharing the pic.

Ahhh, the Leather Egg... that would be Jim Kanzler, one of the better guys you could deal with. He has had black pines on and off for a number of years, I got my animals from him in '99.
nice looking pinesnake.

How would one go about getting in touch with Jim Kanzler?

daveb Sep 25, 2005 09:29 AM

well,
I believe he has sold off his stock. I think you can try to contact him by looking at the NY Metro Reptile expo web page and looking through the vendors list. He may still have some animals left.

Thanks Dave.

I had never heard of him before. The shop I got him at said they bought most of the breeding pairs he had. Seems like I may have the dad to yours!

to have a nice looking Black pine like that. Not to insult anyones animals but if you look through the Pine/Bull photo gallery of all the Black Pines you don't see very many that look seriously black or don't have some nasty northern water snake like brown banding. IMO.

Weekendherper Sep 27, 2005 09:27 PM

I've seen many black pines and this one happend to be the largest I've seen plus the best color. I must say I do have a "thing" for black snakes, and this one really fit the bill!
