PACMAN FROGS SHED???????

OB Sep 23, 2005 05:18 PM

Hello once again i noticed today (friday 9/23) when i got home from football practice that my frogs eyes were shut and skin was coming off of her. So i thought she just needed water but i sprayed her and she just sat there so i kept it up and she finnally opend her eyes and i pealed off all the skin. Do packmen shed or was she trying to hybernate? This morning she took a large poop and got in her whole and sat there while i sprayed her just like normal. Is somthing wrong with her? Im not worried becouse ive done research that they shed but any help is very appreciated, THANKS.

usually when they shed they may make weird postures in order to get it off. as they get it of they eat it so you dont usually see it. when they hibernate it is usually in the dry season and im not sure if it getting colder amy trigger them to as well or not. this is not actually hibernation, but estivation. when they estivate they burrow down and shed but dont eat, rather it dries and creates a waterproof shell that lets them last the whole dry season without drying out. when it rains again they break out of the shell and reemerge to carry out their usual pacman business. was it unusually dry in his tank? just keep it warm and moist and he should be fine. this will keep him from estivating/hibernating. ive never estivated/hibernated mine and she is HUGE and healthy. the only reason to estivate is if you want to breed.
