Male Mississippi Delta holbrooki

mattbrock Sep 23, 2005 09:24 PM

This is my male that will hopefully be paired with ZuesS female next year. He's been quite a finicky eater the last few weeks. And when he does eat he will only take rats...no mice at all. He has also changed his attitude lately. We caught him without any defensive behavior, and now I can't even approach the cage without getting struck at. He's quite the irritable 'ole fellow, but he looks awefully nice.

He sure is a looker! I hope he keeps eating so he'll be ready to go in the spring.

Hi Matt,
He's a beauty.
Please keep me in mind if you do get babies next year.

He is from Sharkey County in an area I'm sure you have hunted before.

I really like those Mississippi delta kings you guys are posting pics of. They seem to have larger speckleds than most I have seen. Phil

They do, in general, have more pronounced or larger spots than other locales, but they seem to have chaotic patterns. Not very uniform like some other locales. I have a friend who owns a female he caught in Sharkey, and she is about 80% yellow. Her spots are HUGE.

That sounds like quite a snake. I would like to see pics of that one. Phil
