floating frogs?

rw1647 Sep 24, 2005 09:08 AM

I saw a reference to "floating frogs" in a book (can I remember the title? of course not!). They were very small and primarily aquatic. The same book also had information on ACFs and ADFs so it wasn't referring to them. I can't seem to find any info on them though. Anyone heard of these guys?

i know exactly what you are talking about. i have a book with them in it. "popular amphibians" by the herpetocultural library. they grow up to one inch long. the enclosure can be relatively small but a 10g would do best with about 4 inches of water and some land they will thrive. feed small(1-2week old) crickets or even fruit flies, you can also feed sm guppies, and blackworms if you place them at the water's edge. it sounds like you could try prepared pellets for ease, but the book doesnt say anything about that. i would think it would be worth trying a floating pellet small enough for them to eat. i have seen them in pet shops i worked at but never had one personally. if you have any other qs just post them.

if you dont see them at a local pet store, ask if they can order them. big places wont usually, but om and pop places are usually happy to take special orders. only other options would be online or at an expo. i dont prefer online becasue you cant actually pick them out. as far as expos i dont recall ever seein them there, so special oreders from mom and pop shops are your best bet.
