Where would you get a moloc? I know there is someone breeding them in California, but I don't have any information about them.

I was under the impression these have not been imported to the US. I know they would have to go through special permits to allow them to leave Australia. If someone is breeding them, has a pair, I wounder if they are legal or not and how they came by them.....I understand them to be 100 percent ant eaters and was under the impression our ants are different than thiers but I know so little about them and thoier natural history I couldn't say for sure. I just find this interesting someone would have these. I could understand a zoo or such, but I would be suprised if it was a private person. Australia is very tight with letting go any animals from their country....I know because I tried to export a certian dragon from there, and it would have been almost imposssible..........

I was under the same impression as well. I know several species in the U.S. pet trade are endemic to Australia such as bearded dragons, australian water dragons, frilled dragons and numerous gecko species. How do all these species end up in the pet trade?
As far as ants go I would think there would other species of ants they could consume here in the U.S. prbably ants from Myrmecostus and Formica. I know people in Germany and Switzerland who keep HLs alive for decades using ants native to that part of the country.
Bearded dragons and the like came through illegal imports and before reptile laws in Australia were set, and also through European bloodlines. SO these I understand, but the Moloc that one I don't think so. I would assume any moloc in California would be illegal.....knowing what a cities animal (varius chucks) I have a hard time believing that they would be legal.
