Great Plains Skink

GreatPlainsSkink Sep 24, 2005 01:36 PM

Hi, i'm new to the forum and was wondering if anyone has/or knows where to go for Great Plains Skink info. I have had this skink for about 2 months now (hatchling) and the eating habits are changing- decreasing. Does anyone know if this is normal for this time of year? Any info you may have will help alot.

Thanks.

about a year, It was wildcaught and we eventually let him go where we caught him....we used a 20 gal with soil from the yard about 3inches deep as he liked to burrow..Also put a basking log and water dish...He loved his basking log..Cant tell you the temps but room temperature except the basking site we used a 40watt bulb during the day.....He loved crickets and superworms..In fact that is all he ate but he would chow down......Maybe you need to bump his temps up a bit...These lizards are everywhere in kansas and they do hibernate in winter.Ours didnt cause we kept the temps up.I would imagine a good basking temp would be 90degrees and ambient of 80 with a cool end of 75.As this is a normals summer day here..Anyway I hope this helps
