imridethelghtng Sep 24, 2005 02:04 PM

as most of you know i just recently got a new 05 red baby biak type chondro well the very first day i got him i offered him a live pinky and he ate it right away then a week later he ate another live rat pinky well after that one he went into shed and i didnt even see him go blue and i tried offering him a rat pinky during shed which of course he refused no worries there but a few days after he had a perfect shed he went poop so i figured ok now is a good time to try to feed him again but he keeps leaving the rat pinky in there and doesnt touch it is this normal i hope he continues to eat for me my 04 female biak never misses a meal this is my first time keeping chondros and im a little nervous that he hasnt eatten after shedding

My biak will usually refuse for a couple days after shed, and only eats if it's nearly pitch black in the room. The snakes have their own personality...you'll get used to it eventually. Give the little guy a couple days, then try again. If the husbandry is correct and the snake is feeling secure, he'll eat. If he hasn't eaten within 2 weeks after shedding, get in touch with the breeder.

Chris

p.s. not too sure, but if it's an 05 baby a rat pink may be a little big for him...my 05 aru is still on mouse pinkies. if that is the case, he may just be refusing such a large meal.
