Thinking if swithching to Newspaper or Paper Towels....Help!

Noir Sep 24, 2005 05:31 PM

I am currently using Aspen bedding, but am having a hard time telling when my snake has released waste. I recently noticed a few scales on his tale area that have become dull, and sunken. I don't think this is scale rot, but I do think it came from the snake burrowing under some moist aspen from it's urine. Is there a prefered bedding between paper towels or newspaper? Any help would be great! Thanks

I like using either kraft paper or single faced corrugated paper. You can pretty much find them at any shipping supply store. I like them because they are highly absorbent, free of dyes and very easy to clean up. It’s definitely better then newspaper. If you can’t find a place near your home, there are many shipping supply places online you can buy from. Many have precut sheets too! Hope this helps.

I use the indented craft paper. I get it from uline.com Comes in rolls and is easy to cut to whatever length(s) youn want. I get and cut it cslightly oversized ie my 23x22 cage uses the 24" roll cut to 25" lenght ot 25/24 so I have 1" to rise up on all sides so the solids (usually deposited in a corner) are completely on paper. Make it easier to clean up.
