Well... lizards that give live birth are so rare, that it's probably easier to breed a more common species that lays eggs. More readily available information and help on husbandry and such.
If we were talking snakes, I'd answer the other way, because it's easier to make the snake do all the work :P.

The only live-bearing lizards I know are found in scinks, aligator lizards (and related Cordylus) and xantusiids, both are harder than, say, geckos.
Some geckos are so easy to breed and their eggs so easy to deal with too that if you do want something easy, go on this.

Whats a good easy lizard to start breeding with and with the eggs would i need a incubator or have the lizards do it?

You need an incubator for eggs.
But you can do it yourself.
There are so many species that are easy : Eublepharis macularius, many Gecko spp, Hemidactylus spp, Rhacodactylus spp, Hemidactylus spp, Lepidodactylus lugubris...
There are also quite easy iguanids as Sceloporus spp.

The most important : always chose captive born.

how about bearded dragons?

Henri May 20, 2003 03:30 AM

I don't like this species, but it's also quite easy to breed.

i would rather breed bearded dragons because they can eat vegetables as a diet and i dont need to go buy crickets and what not, but i dont want to breed a iguana because they get huge! and i just dont have that space.

Adults can eat eat mostly greens but not ALL greens. They looove their crickets!

bassiusmaximous May 21, 2003 06:07 PM

yes i understand that i used to have 3 of them for a looooooooooong time. but what i can do is by them crickets and then feed the vegetable for their next feed after the crickets. The only thing i need to do is get money to buy them first i need to get a job and since im 15 there isnt too many jobs out there for me.
