Alligator Lizards- How can I find them?

kerrigor Jul 19, 2003 05:22 PM

Hi everyone!
I just moved to Poway, CA. Upon hearing that Alligator Lizards lived here, ive been out searching for one at least three times a day. Just how common are they. So far I have seen one, but it escaped into these ugly rubbery plants they have growing all around here. Any tips for catching them? I've always wanted one and now that I have the oppuritunity I plan to catch one.

my sister used to live in temecula, which isn't that far from you. every morning when she would go outside there would be several alligator lizards sunning themselves around her yard. she said she never tried catching one, but there were so many that it couldn't have been too difficult. they move fast, so you just have to be sneaky and move faster. try looking for them early in the morning when the sun has only been up for a little bit, or later in the evening when the sun is getting ready to go down.

good luck!
