For those that are interested.... I had some non feeder corn snakes, they really are nice looking snakes and I would love to hang onto them, but they just won't eat. So the other day I used one of them as a feeder. The corn really just didn't want to give up, it was a fighter. Notice at how the 27 minute mark, the corn snake was still alive, or was it? I have heard before of dead humans having a spastic movement while being examined at the morgue. Is this the case here? I've never had a feeder live past 15 minutes from the bite of a hungry regal. Anyways, here's the data....

Regal Ringneck Snake(Diadophis punctatus regalis) - 20"
Corn Snake(Elaphe guttata guttata) - 12"
Last Meal - 9/16/05 - 7" Shorthead Garter Snake(Thamnophis brachystoma)
Temperature - 81 degrees
Time - Approximately 9 P.M.
Corn snake placed in Regal enclosure, immediate interest from the Regal. Head to head with each other results in the Regal grabbing the Corn.
Minutes/Seconds
0:01 - Regal grabs Corn on neck, about 15 seconds later, Corn breaks free
0:30 - Regal grabs Corn on head, Corn flips, heard bones cracking
About 20 seconds later Corn breaks free, resulting in Regal chasing the Corn around the enclosure, mouth opened aiming for the head
2:00 - Regal grabs Corn lower body, approx. 3" from anal, Corn struggles not once attempts to bite
13:00 - Corn snake non responsive, Regal starts moving to Corn's head for swallowing
26:54 - As Regal gets to about 2" from the neck, Corn snake opens mouth as though gasping for air
29:00 - Regal makes it to Corn's head
35:00 - Corn snake 50% swallowed
48:50 - Corn snake 100% engulfed
