New owner here, with a question

ladywhipple02 Sep 25, 2005 02:50 PM

Okay, so I went to the Ohio Show yesterday and purchased a baby crestie. Little guy seems to be doing good... I have him in a Kreature Keeper with a deli cup with a hole in it as a hide, paper towel as substrate, and crumpled up pieces of newsprint paper for hiding and climbing (getting egg crates, soon). He's took mixed up CGD from a dropper last night, no problem. Now, here's my question. Can I mix up a good portion of the CGD and leave it in a sealed plastic container in the fridge? It seems like a waste mixing up a small portion and then having to get rid of half of it (he doesn't eat much at this size). But I heard that it can mold quickly. Please let me know... Thanks!

I have tried it a few times. It never molded but it did get a little chunky and dried up.

Ha! I would love to! I want to see how I do with this little guy first. Poor thing has to endure the learning curve. But I think he's doing pretty well LOVES climbing on his paper balls.

It can be kept in a small container in the fridge for a week or so. I just add a bit more water each time as it thickens up into a jell. Also, you can freeze it in a icecube tray (the small cube trays would be best for a baby gecko) Then you can just thaw the 'cubes' as you need them. Just put the icecube tray in a sealable plastic bag after it freezes, to avoid freezer burn and keeping the fridgy taste off them.
