Brooksi King... Sick

notallthere Sep 25, 2005 07:49 PM

I recently discovered that Roxy's (my brooksi king) had some cedar chips in her old bedding... I understand that this is toxic for snakes so i changed her bedding right away... anyway.. it only occured to me when i heard her "coughing or wheezing" in her cage... i took her out and immediately cleaned everything and changed her bedding to aspen... Well now, her wheezing is once in a while and she is still breathing eraddically... (short quick breaths). She's very weak and doesn't move around as much and i was told to increase the heat on one side of the cage but she still moves to the cooler side of the tank. What do i Do???
Very worried,
Rachel

There is nothing you really can do at this point.

I would turn off the heat because the snake is trying to tell you something by moving to the cool side. Let it rest and keep fresh water in the cage.

Cedar is toxic to snakes and you found out the hard way. Sorry. I hope the brooksi makes it through the the next couple days.
