I am interested in selecting a large species of housefly by luring females with a certain egg-laying-medium formula. I have studied a little on the different species, and think I am after Phormia regina (big with dark blue tint on back - looks all black from distance). I know there are common names, but I'm not sure if this is what is referred to as a "Blow-Fly" or not. They are common but are not as attracted to carrion as the Green Bottle flies. I've tried attracting them with various vegetable mixtures with no success.
If any fly experts could lend some advice, it would be great.
Thanks,
Mark
