The Big Squeeze- Animal Planet

goini04 Sep 25, 2005 09:58 PM

Hello everyone,

I just got finished watching, "The Big Squeeze" on Animal Planet tonight. Different information was displayed and some was rather interesting. I was wondering what others in here might have thought about the show?

Any thoughts?

I was very disappointed in the show. It was sensationalized anti-snake propaganda. Instead of educating and instilling a sense of respect for large snakes all it accomplished was to promote mindless fear. The show made it seem as if owning a large constrictor was some type of death wish.

From what I saw, it was pretty well-based. While they did not say that snakes didn't make good pets, they did say that they're wild animals that can never be completely tamed which I'm sure we all agree with. It also set down that it was errors on part of the keepers that caused the accidents and that the snakes were just acting on instincts. And they told about the different ways you could defend yourself in case of a problem. We've all heard and would agree with most of those anyway. So while the snakes owners were understandably a little shaken up with the incidents, it conveyed that big snakes require a lot of respect and attention to detail and that it's not something you just want to jump into. All in all, I found it to be very accurate and knowledgable. How about that anaconda show before that? Anyone catch that? What I found myself frowning at was when Jesus Rivas was forcing the greens to swallow radio transmitters...I guess you do what you have to.

Actually I am coming closer and closer. I am still working on my venomous section, and crocodilians section. I am awaiting some articles and pictures from other individuals and what not and will be adding them. I also have a friend who is a graphic designer doing my "cover page". My biggest setback is that my main PC is down, which is the one that I primarily do all of my work on. I am currently fighting back and forth with the motherboard company to replace the board. Currently I am running a laptop which doesn't have all of the same capabilities of my main PC.

Furthermore, I will be hosting this website off of my own personal server. I was originally thinking that it would be up in about 2-3 weeks, well that was 2-3 weeks ago . So much going on at one time ya know? It is certainly coming along, and I will be doing quite a bit on it tonight.

Thanks for your interest!

Chris

P.S> I will email you directly as well as put the website address in my signature when all is ready to go.
