when am i going to be able to put my tortoise outdoors?i live in san diego and it's about a year and 2 months old.

Having fresh grass & greens to graze, real sunlight is good for them at any age. The trick for keeping them outdoors though is keeping them safe.
They need to be safe from predators, safe from escape, safe from cold weather.
If you can build a pen with a wire/screen top that will keep wild animals out and the tortoise in that'd be wonderful for the little one.
One other thought just hit me, you also need to keep a little one under lock & key just in case a human "predator" decides to steal a neat looking little tortoise.
