RETF in 45 or 55??

detrick105 Sep 26, 2005 01:17 PM

Hello, I have 3 RETF's in a 45 gallon aquarium (12" 1/4 wide,23" 1/2 tall,36" 1/4 long) I was wondering if I should move them into a 55 gallon aquarium (12"1/4 wide,21"tall,48"long)?

I have two RETFs in a 30 gallon ( 18"x18"x24" ).
They seem perfectly happy, and healthy in this size, and
sure I could have put a third in there without any problem.

It depends mostly on how the space is used.
If you have an empty tank, with no real trees in there, or waterfalls, then it's (ironically) more crowded for them because there's less surface area for them.
If, however, you have a few trees with many leaves that they like, then they'll be more than happy in a 45 gallon.
( Photos of mine down at the bottom of this post )

So, if there's no real fauna in there for them, then it'd probably be better to furnish it with some plants rather than just making it bigger.
You want a real 3d environment for them to live in, ideally.

Having said that, I often think that I'd like a much bigger terrarium for my frogs.
I'd like them to have about double the size they have now, so I could have a much bigger waterfall, taller trees, and more area for them to live in.

Hope this Helps.
